About us

The Forest Folk CIC helps children and young people grow in every sense (socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively) through time spent outdoors.

We use Forest School, woodland working, greenwood craft, and the ancient arts as our vehicles. These are practical, hands-on activities that build real skill and confidence at the same time as they build relationships, attention, and self-belief. We work with children and young people between 5–25 and have social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, or find that formal education settings don’t fit them.

We create calm, structured outdoor spaces where children feel safe, understood, and able to grow at their own pace. Our work focuses on:

  • Supporting emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Building trust and relationships through shared experience
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience, and self-understanding
  • Developing practical skills and a sense of genuine capability
  • Creating inclusive, trauma-aware environments where every child feels valued

We work in partnership with schools, alternative provisions, families, community organisations, and charities. The children and young people we support have found traditional settings overwhelming or difficult. We offer something different: a slower pace, a living environment, and space to reconnect with themselves and with others.

As a community interest company, decisions are guided by participant need, integrity of practice, and care for both community and environment. Any surplus goes back into the work. Profit is not our purpose; lasting, positive impact is.
